Garli Medi Tech Joins Austrade In Indonesia

In June 2025, Garli Medi Tech’s Co-Founders, Michael Barlow and Darren Lundberg, were proud to take part in the Austrade Indonesian Bootcamp, an intensive market-entry program designed to help innovative Australian companies explore and expand into Southeast Asia.

The Bootcamp was part of Austrade’s Landing Pad initiative, which aims to support high-potential businesses in gaining local insights, connecting with in-market partners, and refining their go-to-market strategy for the region. Over the course of the program, Michael and Darren joined a select cohort of Australian founders and executives working at the cutting edge of healthcare, technology, and social innovation.

A Mission with Purpose

Garli Medi Tech, a proud First Nations owned medical technology company, is committed to transforming healthcare accessibility for underserved communities particularly those in rural, remote, and hard-to-reach areas. The company’s flagship solution, MediFusion, enables accurate, remote clinical assessments and diagnostics for patients who cannot easily visit a doctor.

“Indonesia presents a unique opportunity,” said Darren. “The country has a huge population, a rapidly growing digital health sector, and significant healthcare challenges in regional and remote areas—challenges that our platform is specifically designed to address.”

Immersive Market Exposure

The Bootcamp offered Garli Medi Tech direct access to on-the-ground knowledge from local experts, policy makers, healthcare leaders, and potential distribution and channel partners. Through intensive workshops, pitch sessions, and one-on-one meetings, Michael and Darren were able to fine-tune their market positioning, understand local regulatory and cultural dynamics, and build meaningful connections that could pave the way for future collaboration.

“Being part of this program has helped us sharpen our strategy for Southeast Asia,” Michael said. “We’ve come away with not only a deeper understanding of the market but also a renewed sense of purpose in how our work can create real impact across international borders.”

Building Bridges

One of the highlights of the bootcamp was a high-profile Matchmaking Day, where participating Australian companies were introduced to a curated list of local partners, investors, and health stakeholders. Garli Medi Tech’s presentations were well received, with several parties expressing interest in trial collaborations and joint initiatives.

Supporting Indigenous Entrepreneurship on a Global Stage

“We see our participation not just as a business opportunity, but as a chance to open doors for other First Nations businesses,” Darren said. “By showing what’s possible, we hope to inspire a new wave of First Nations led innovation—both at home and abroad.”

Looking Ahead

Following the bootcamp, Garli Medi Tech plans to continue building partnerships across Southeast Asia, with Indonesia firmly in focus for pilot projects and digital health rollouts. The team remains committed to advancing healthcare equality through smart, inclusive, and patient-centred technologies.
