The Road Train Skyway project was delivered within Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Brockman 4 mining operations in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, approximately 80 kilometres east of Tom Price. The works supported the development of a dedicated road train haul route to enable future high-grade iron ore haulage between Brockman 4 and Brockman 2, while also facilitating the initial transfer of mine waste during haul road construction.

Juukan Garli supplied all plant, labour, and supervision to undertake the full scope of works, including clearing and grubbing within designated work zones, establishment of compliant vegetation and topsoil stockpiles for relocation or removal, and detailed lift studies for culvert installation.

The project included the installation of 1.5-metre diameter corrugated steel pipe culverts beneath the ramp alignment along the existing creek line, construction of headwalls, wing walls, and stone pitching for culvert aprons, and coordination of bedding sand and cement-treated basecourse supply and delivery to the pad and laydown areas.

All works were executed safely and efficiently within an active mining environment, meeting Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s technical, environmental, and operational requirements while supporting critical future haulage infrastructure.
